Dramatic irony is one of the tools a writer can use to involve the audience and add suspense or interest to a story.
Essentially, dramatic irony is when the audience knows more about a character or characters than the characters themselves know. We, as audience are given a privileged position, a God’s-eye perspective, because we see and understand more about the character’s fate as well as the consequence of his/her actions at that point in time.
